The main purpose of this blog is to share with you thoughts that change lives.
Here goes the first thought:
What is the greatest evidence for the existence of God? We live in a world of evidence for claims that are audacious in nature. Any claim made by man must be challenge in order to see if it holds true.
In the discipline and science of dialectics (logic), there is an argument that is called “categorical A” argument. Essentially, it states, “All A’s are X’s.” Most logicians will agree that such arguments are rare and indeed quite unstable. Mainly, because all one has to do is show that one X is not an A. This would result in the dismantling of the claim that is made.
Why am I sharing this with you? Because in the Bible you have definite categorical statements made by the authors who claim to have had a relationship with God! In other words, the Bible is filled with categorical A arguments.
Many claim to have debunked the veracity of the Bible by providing evidence against its claims. However, all arguments presented cannot ignore the greatest evidence of the existence of a God. “The greatest evidence? What is it?”
Simply this, the existence of something denotes the reality of a beginning. If you come across a structure out in the middle of nowhere, would you not conclude that someone or something made it?
Some argue that the greatest evidence for the existence of God is nature. What man observes and studies in nature is resounding proof of a transcendent God. While I agree with thus thoughts, I purpose a greater evidence.
After studying, thinking, and pondering on a idea found in scripture, I conclude that the greatest evidence to the existence of God is…Well before I share that idea with you, let me first share with you how Jacob saw God!
In the book of Genesis, we have recorded the story of Jacob meeting with his impetuous brother Esau. The last time they saw each other, Esau vowed revenge against his brother for the mendacious actions against him.
The night before Jacob is to meet with his brother Esau, Jacob wrestles with an angel. His name is changed and a promise is granted. In chapter 33 of Genesis, Jacob himself is going to tell you the greatest evidence of the existence of God.
Meeting his brother, Jacob utters these words, “No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably.”
Did you catch it? Did you see it? Yea, neither did I, until a Hebrew teacher shared with me this thought. The greatest evidence of the existence of God is YOU! When Jacob saw his brother, he said, for to see your face is like seeing the face of God.
For the Hebrews, it was clearly understood that the greatest evidence of God was the existence of man! You see, You were created with intrinsic value. You were created with a purpose, a design. You are the greatest evidence of God!
The next time we will dig deeper into this thought and more…so stay tuned to the next Tellogram!
